Whatever your position on whether or not David Livingstone can be said to have 'discovered' the Victoria Falls, he was the first to attempt to describe the Falls in the written, and printed, word. Before artists or photographers could convey the scene of the Falls visually, Livingstone brought the Falls to the attention of the world through his words.
