Kuomboka Ceremony
Date: 11 April 2009
Time: All day
The Kuomboka Ceremony is held every year near Mongu in Western Province. On this date the Litunga, Paramount Chief of the Lozi people, moves from his palace in the floodplain to higher ground during a colourful ceremony. The Litunga and his family board large boats in the company of many drummers in traditional dress.

Mongu is a day's drive from Lusaka or a very long day's drive from Livingstone. The road from Livingstone to Sesheke is good tar (200 km), but the road to the Sitoti ferry is bad and can take several hours (180 km). From the Sitoti ferry to Mongu the road is fine.

Lusaka Hash House Harriers

The Lusaka Hash House Harriers are celebrating its 1500th Run in Livingstone this year. The Lusaka 'Hash' is a running club that meets weekly for a social run (or walk) in an attractive farm or forest venue in the Lusaka area. It is part of an international community of almost 2,000 Hash Clubs around the world and the 1500th run represents about 30 years of weekly Hashing in Lusaka.

Livingstone expects to see about 100 Hashers including some from other countries.
